Cabbage dumplings – a recipe with a photo

Today we will prepare cabbage rolls from young cabbage. It turns out a very tasty meat dish.

homemade minced meat (I have chicken and beef) – 600 g;
round-grained rice – 150 g;
salt – 1 2 teaspoons;
onion – 1 pc.;
salt pepper ;
water – 150-200 ml;
cabbage – 1 head.

To fill:
carrot – 1 pc.;
onion – 1 pcs.;
tomato paste – 2 tbsp. L.;
flour – 1 tsp;
salt – 1 tsp;
ground pepper;
sugar – 2-3 tsp;
water – 700 ml

The process of making cabbage rolls.

Wash the rice several times with cold water. Then pour plenty of boiling water. Add 3 teaspoons of salt. We put it on the fire and boil it for literally 3-4 minutes. Then let it brew for a few more minutes under the lid. After that, pour it on a sieve to drain excess water. The rice should be crumbly.

In order to separate the leaves from the cabbage, make the following cut around the head.

And this part is lowered into boiling water. Let the cabbage cook like this for a few minutes. It all depends on how young the head is.

Then we remove our leaves with the help of forks. If not all the leaves separated easily, let the cabbage cook for a few more minutes.

Fry the onion until transparent.

Add salt, pepper, rice, and half of a fried onion to the minced meat. You can also add fried carrots, it’s up to your taste and discretion. We mix. To make the filling more tender, you need to add water. Some like tomato juice.

Add carrots to the remaining onion and continue preparing the filling. Add a teaspoon of flour (it is possible without it). This is to make the sauce thicker. Then add 2 full spoons of tomato paste, hot water (because the pan is hot). We mix it all, add salt, sugar, boil it for a few minutes.

We remove the compaction at the base of the leaves. You can also beat it with a hammer. We put the filling on the dense edge of the sheet.

And wrap it up. Pour sauce over each layer.

I got 12 cabbage rolls from this amount of products. You can add a little water on the side to the very bottom. Put on fire and bring to a boil. After boiling, cook for 45 minutes under the lid.
