This year I shared the recipe for apricot jam with nuts with my mother, and last year she prepared a new jam, the taste of which I really liked. Today I also prepared currant jam, as my mother taught.

I will tell you honestly that currant jam will be with oranges, keeping its strange color, but with the taste of citrus fruit.

— 1 kg of currants;
— 1,5 kg of sugar;
— 2 medium-sized oranges.

Currant jam preparation method.

Currants for preparations must be ripe and beautiful in every sense of the word. Remove all debris from the currant (stems, leaves, etc.), wash it under running water.

Pass the currants through a meat grinder. We use a fine mesh so that the jam is uniform.

Cover the currant puree with sugar and bring to a boil over low heat, stirring constantly.

We wash the oranges, boil them in water for 10 minutes, cool them and twist them through a meat grinder. We also use a fine mesh in the meat grinder.

When the currant puree boils, add the orange puree, bring to a boil and cook for 10 minutes.

After that, the jam can be poured into jars. We first wash the jars well, dry them and cover them with vinegar. Shake the vinegar from the cans, and pour the jam inside and close the lids.

The jam should stand until the winter to infuse. Over time, the sweet preparation will thicken, so that the jam can be easily spread on the bread.
