How to cook caramel – a recipe with a photo
Today we will prepare homemade caramel. As soon as you see how easy it is to prepare, you will no longer want to buy store-bought. You can use it to make cakes, cupcakes, pour over desserts or simply add it to coffee or tea. And all you need is 4 ingredients and a pan with a thick bottom.
Ingredients:
sugar – 195 g;
water – 90 ml;
cream – 240 ml;
oil – 50 g;
salt – 1/4 tsp.
The process of making homemade caramel.
First, mix sugar and water in a saucepan and put it on the stove over medium heat. Until the sugar melts, it is better not to stir it with a spoon, otherwise crystals will form. We keep the syrup on the fire until it becomes amber-golden in color. This will take 8 to 10 minutes, depending on your pan and tile.
Remove the pan from the heat and quickly, while stirring, gradually pour in the cream at room temperature. This must be done very carefully, because the hot caramel foams and splashes a lot.
If the caramel has gathered in a lump, it’s nothing to worry about, return the pan to a slow fire and stir all the time. All lumps will dissolve literally in one minute. If you want a thicker caramel, add less cream.
As soon as the sugar is completely dissolved, remove the pan from the heat and add oil at room temperature and salt to taste. It will give a light contrast and balance the taste of sweet caramel.
Homemade caramel is ready. While it is still hot, pour it into a jar.
It will cool and thicken in the refrigerator. It turns out very tasty and fragrant. Due to the butter and cream, it becomes silky. Bon appetit!
