Uzvar is a dried fruit compote, which is a traditional Ukrainian drink and is usually prepared on Christmas Eve. It can be cooked from various fruits and berries, honey is added as desired. Usually, dried fruit compote is boiled for a long time, but the concoction is only brought to a boil, boiled for a few minutes, but infused for up to 12 hours.

To prepare this drink, I took dried apples and pears, rose hips, cranberries, dried strawberries, raisins and prunes.

You can try different options, any dry fruits and berries that you have at home will do.

Ingredients:
water – 1,5 liters;
dried apples – a handful;
dried pears – a handful;
dry rose hips – 1 tablespoon;
prunes – a handful;
raisins – a handful;
dried cranberry berries – 1 tablespoon;
dried strawberries – 1 tablespoon;
honey – 1 tablespoon;
cinnamon sticks – 1 pc.;
star anise – 2 stars;
whole cloves – 3 pcs.;
allspice with peas – 3 pcs.

How to prepare dried fruit concoction.

You will also need spices (cinnamon, cloves, anise)

A tablespoon of honey.

First, you need to bring 1,5 liters of water to a boil. First of all, put pears, apples and rose hips in boiling water. Boil for 10 minutes.

Then add raisins, prunes, strawberries and cranberries. Cook for another 10 minutes.

At the very end, we add spices.

Honey is put into an already matured drink, if you put it in boiling water, many of its beneficial properties will be lost.

The decoction is infused for 3-4 hours with the lid closed. It is best to leave it overnight.

The drink turns out to be very aromatic, tasty and healthy.
