1 kg plums;
1 kg of sugar.
I take dark plums, the ones from which prunes are made. Such plums are sweeter and the jam will be more fragrant and tastier, and a wonderful color. If your plums are light – yellow-pink, they are more sour, you will need to put more sugar in such a jam – 1,3 kg, and you will have to add 50 ml of water.
But in any case, choose plums that are elastic, not overripe, although I usually peel a few overripe fruits and also put them in jam for a thicker consistency.
How to make plum jam for the winter.
Wash the plums, remove the stones from them by cutting along the groove.
Cover with sugar and leave to infuse for 2-3 hours.
When the plums give juice, you can put them on fire.
Bring to a boil, stirring, and cook over low heat for 3 minutes, turn off the heat, let cool a little, and repeat the procedure several more times.
Spread the jam on sterilized jars. If you will store plum jam at room temperature, spread it hot and roll it up, if in a cool place, cool the jam, spread it in sterilized jars and close it with polyethylene lids.
If you put not a kilogram of sugar, but 300 g per 1 kg of plums, bring it to a boil, pour it into sterilized jars and roll it up, you will get delicious plums in their own juice.
What is useful plum jam?
It is especially necessary to focus on vitamin P (rutin), it is most abundant in plums. It strengthens the walls of blood vessels, normalizes blood pressure and the endocrine system of the body. In addition, rutin enhances the effect of vitamin C, which is also completely preserved in plum jam.
Plum jam has a beneficial effect on the gastrointestinal tract, normalizes the work of the stomach, has a mild laxative effect, relieving constipation. Plum jam is perfectly absorbed by the body, which means that the benefit will be maximum.
