The process of making a salad with herring, beetroot and boiled potatoes.
- Let’s start with beets. You can bake them 2 days before preparing the salad. Just let them cool, wrap in cling film and store in the fridge. Wash the beets and dry them with a paper towel. Since I’m roasting the beets in the oven, I wrap them individually in foil. For convenience, I put the beets on a sheet so that the juice does not leak out.
Bake the beets for about 60-90 minutes. I put them on the middle shelf with an up-down heating option and a temperature of 200 degrees. After baking, I carefully remove the foil and put the beets on a plate until they cool down. We clean it from the skin.
If desired, dry the herring fillet with a paper towel and cut into pieces no wider than 1,5 cm.
Advice: to make herring and beetroot salad more tender, you can add a few hard-boiled eggs to it. Boiled and diced carrots will give you a little pleasure.
Advice: red onion can be replaced with garlic. You will get tenderness and sour taste by adding a piece of peeled hard apple, cut into cubes, to the salad. If you add cheese to the salad, it will be more filling.
