Stewed cabbage – a recipe with a photo.

Stewed cabbage is one of the most popular everyday dishes in our kitchen. And of course, you can experiment with this dish. For example, I like when there are a lot of carrots and I often put 3-4 pieces instead of two. You can increase the amount of onion and garlic.

Beans make this dish more satisfying, turning such cabbage into a complete meal. Instead of beans, you can put chickpeas, chicken, turkey, beef or lamb.

Such cabbage is prepared very quickly and simply, and the products are always available in the nearest store. I decided to write down this recipe, since I cook it quite often and I really like it, and also because this dish belongs to the category of “healthy dishes” – without requiring a side dish, it is an option for the right combination of products that are well absorbed by the body.

Ingredients:
half a medium-sized cabbage;
2 large carrots;
1 large onion;
2-3 cloves of garlic;
1 tsp. salt;
a pinch of black pepper;
3 Art. l. vegetable oil;
1 can of beans.

We are preparing a dish.

Heat the oil in a pan and fry the onion and garlic over medium heat until golden brown.

Grate the carrots on a coarse grater.

Add the grated carrot to the onion, mix well and simmer over medium heat for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent burning.

And while the carrots are stewing, let’s do the cabbage. Take half of the cob and cut it in half, then cut out the cob with a sharp knife.

Cut a quarter of cabbage into three or four parts.

And then thinly slice as shown in the photo.

Cut the first quarter and transfer it to a wide bowl. Add 0,5 tsp. salt and mash the cabbage well with your hands.

We put this cabbage in a pan and mix well, reduce the heat to a minimum, cover with a lid.

And now let’s repeat everything with the second part of the cabbage. We cut. salt, grind and add it to the pan, pepper.

Mix well, cover with a lid and simmer over low heat for about 20 minutes. Stirring from time to time so that nothing burns. It will be enough to stir several times.

When the cabbage is ready, add the beans and mix well again, turn off the heat. Cover with a lid and let stand for another 5 minutes.

An appetizing and healthy dish is ready! Such cabbage can be served as a separate dish, and as a side dish to meat, fish and poultry.
