Thick strawberry jam » Culinary recipes of dishes with photos. home cuisine
Homemade strawberry jam is an indispensable attribute of a winter tea party for me. It reminds of a hot summer, and its aroma is warming. In our family, thick strawberry jam is one of our favorites, we like to add it to ice cream, and also bake homemade pies.
Now there is such a bad trend – to buy everything. In my childhood, there was no such thing as buying jam or jam in a store. Now everything has changed and many of my friends, referring to employment and the fast pace of life, do not engage in canning for the winter. And even for nothing.
It is not known what manufacturers add to make jams and jams so bright and long-lasting. And we have small children, to whom we want to give everything the best. In addition, I consider it a good family tradition to cook jam and seal it in jars – this was instilled in me by my mother. I will definitely follow her example, she is my best hostess.
Ingredients:
fresh strawberries – 3 kg;
granulated sugar – 3 kg;
jars with lids.
How to cook strawberry jam.
This is my amount of jam, you can make less or more, the main thing is that strawberries and sugar are taken in a ratio of 1:1.
Thoroughly wash strawberries in running water.
Clean the berries from the tails.
Place the strawberries in a large saucepan and cover with sugar for about 1 hour.
Strawberries in sugar should give juice.
After that, put the pan on a slow fire and stir constantly so that the sugar dissolves completely. As soon as it starts to boil, turn off the fire.
Cool the jam (it will take about 5 hours) and put it back on the fire, when it boils, turn it off. Now you can pour into clean jars. I use screw-on lids – I just boil them and screw them on while the lids are still hot.
Or with ordinary canning lids – whichever is more convenient. You can try! I wish you a pleasant tea party in winter!
